[Nina Smith] Sunday evening

Hello Family,
It has been a full week. Honestly said it is very hard to keep up with what day it is. I use to think it was only me that had that problem but after talking with the other two couples I have learned that it is hard for them as well. We spend quite a bit of time at the visitor center. Even though it is the same place each day it is the people and the sister missionaries that make those days so interesting. On Sunday’s it is usually very busy. People are on vacation and there are a lot of them lately. The main majority are mostly from Utah because it is spring break. We have the missionaries coming and going during our shift. They take turns of going to church and then coming over to the center to help out. We get there just before 11:30 and stay until 4:00. We only had 2 missionaries when we go there and they left at noon. Then we because swamped ! We ended up with 70 people and Roland and I had to hustle to get things organized and to help show them around or to set movies up. We have a place where we keep sheets that people have filled out to reserve a room. I had one for today and I had it out but then it got so busy and it was a bit hidden and I forgot about it. The group came in and asked about the room. More scrambling around. Roland gave me help and that was great !!! Fortunate that both were watching the same movie and so one group got moved over to the other group and just had the opportunity to watch some of it over again. They did not complain. Next week I will need to put the events that are going to happen onto the main sheet. Bingo !!! That would fix it. In the end all was good.

I continue to love meeting people and talking to them. So much fun. So many nice people to chat with. Today I talked with a family group and that was nice. I had a very nice talk with a Chinese man who lives on this island and that was super interesting. He had a great interest in the literature we had so we exchanged names and phone number incase that he might have questions. I met a most delightful couple from Texas and we had a great chat. Usually there are lots of questions and I am getting better at answering them!

We had what we call transfer news where the sister missionaries learn who their new companion would be and what pad they would be in and if any one was leaving or coming in. Will no one leaving. Two coming in from the Missionary Training Center and two coming in from being out in different areas. So this will now give us 25 sisters here versus’s 20. This will help us out quite bit. I like all of the changes. Tomorrow is what we call give and take and I suspect you know about it already. The missionaries that have clothing or food or dishes or old book shampoo and such things that they don’t want they will bring it to our garage and leave it there. they put it all on the table or hang things on the ladder and then take what they want and leave what they don’t want. At the end of 3 days what ever is left goes to the larger give and take that is for the married student housing area. I am also allowed to take stuff from that area and usually I am looking for books.

News of the week is that James is leaving for his mission on Wednesday and that is exciting for him. He will spend 3 weeks in the MTC. He will then be heading to the Portland mission. The MTC address is: Elder James R. Smith MAR28 OR-POR 2005 N 900 E Unit 96 Provo, UT 84602

Jared and Tania are coming over to see us and we are excited to be with them. We will still need to take our shifts but we hope to work some magic so we can have a bit of extra time off. They will be here for a bit over a week I think.

Still riding my bike and also walking. It is hard stuff but good. I hope you are all doing well. Love you all so much. Remember Mom Smith and think about sending her a card or note. She would love that. Love to one and all. Miss you all.

Love, Mom
