Three Wild Spanish Ponies on the Shore

The local native American Indians drove the Spanish out of the Outer Banks, leaving their horses behind. These are smaller horses, bred that way so they could be easily and quickly mounted.

A section of the Outer Banks has been set aside for these horses and they are allowed unfettered access everywhere in that area.

Meanwhile, several tour companies take advantage of these horses to offer 2 1/2 hour tours to see and photograph the horses.
