Yesterday I got an email from my excellent friend Duane<\/a> in Colorado Springs:<\/p>\n

DISLOCATED MY SHOULDER TODAY AT SCHOOL.\u00c2\u00a0 TYPING ONE-HANDED…

Duane just turned 72. Rather than retiring and playing, he’s been a substitute teacher and a tutor in Colorado Springs for the past ten years. It won’t be long until he probably can claim another retirement check! So, I responded:<\/p>\n

That’s got to hurt big time!! What were you doing to dislocate your shoulder? Trying to tag one of the kids at dodgeball??<\/p>\n

Thinking about you … and trying not to giggle too much!

As you might notice in Duane’s blog (he’s a great blogger and writes just about every day), he sometimes has days where the kids try to take on the substitute teacher. I had visions of him dislocating his shoulder throwing an eraser or something. I was wrong. At 4:35 this morning he sent me the following:<\/p>\n

IT HURT BIG TIME.\u00c2\u00a0 I WAS GOING INTO SHOCK AND ALMOST PASSED OUT WHILE IN E.R.\u00c2\u00a0 THAT IS WHEN THEY DECIDED TO GIVE ME SOME MORPHINE.\u00c2\u00a0 GOOD THING BOBBIE WAS WITH ME.\u00c2\u00a0 I DIDN’T USE ANY BAD WORDS.<\/p>\n

I WAS LEARNING TO ROLLERBLADE WITH KIDS.\u00c2\u00a0 THEY WANTED US TO LEARN HOW TO FALL CORRECTLY.\u00c2\u00a0 I’M A SLOW LEARNER\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 NO PAIN NOW, BUT I’M TIED DOWN, AT LEAST ON THE RIGHT SIDE.\u00c2\u00a0 GOOD THING I’M LEFT-HANDED.<\/p>\n

GIGGLE AWAY, YOU MEAN OLE FRIEND.\u00c2\u00a0 ITS 4;30 A.M AND I COULDN’T LAY THERE ANYMORE.\u00c2\u00a0 I’M OFF TO SCHOOL AT 7;30 THIS MORNING.<\/p>\n
