When I got up this morning, I found this note on the kitchen table. I definitely made me laugh. I knew that Nina was going to the county jail this morning to pick up some personal items for a woman who had been transferred from county jail to the women’s prison. Nina did indeed get out soon … she was home by 8:45 a.m.
This afternoon we went over to Soda Springs to spend some time with mother and dad. Mother’s TV quite working a few weeks ago, and they bought a new one on a hurry-up trip to Salt Lake City. Only problem was, the TV they bought didn’t have an earphone jack, so mother couldn’t hear the TV anymore. She needs to plug in her Bose noise-cancelling headset into the earphone jack on the TV in order to hear what is showing on the TV. Also, due to some wiring changes that had been made, she wasn’t getting a signal to her TV in the living room anymore. I couldn’t convince her to buy a new one and sell the other one. Since it was her mistake, she was going to live with it. So, I bought a new one and we swapped it out today. The new TV has a headphone jack:
Note the earphone cable on the right side of the TV. We brought the old-new TV home with us and will probably use it to swap out for the 16-year-old TV in our family room, which is just about on its last legs. Mother is quite ecstatic with the new TV and her ability to now hear the TV.

Sunday after church we drove over to Soda Springs to spend some time with mother and dad. Of course, the main reason was Mother’s Day, but there were several other reasons as well. Mother had a couple of small things needing to be fixed, all of which I was able to take care of. We also had a great dinner and lots of good visiting. Thanks, mother, for being such a special person.
I now have a new digital Single Lens Reflex camera. After a lot of looking and investigation, I finally decided to buy the
Union Pacific Railroad’s #844 Steam Engine came to Pocatello Friday evening on May 4th. This was one of those Big Deal events in a railroad town like Pocatello. The train was making it’s way from Cheyenne, Wyoming (home base for the engine) to Tacoma, Washington and back. It will be back in Pocatello on Sunday, May 27th and will be open for tours all day on the 28th. You can be sure that we will be there, along with a cast of thousands, to look, touch, take pictures, and buy souveniers.
