This gate is the main entry into the Taj Mahal. It was the last thing built. Across the top are 11 smaller domes. Inside are an additional 11 domes that can’t be seen from this side of the gate, but all 22 can be seen from the other side. They are symbolic of the 22 years it took to build the monument.
